The Sound of Philadelphia Souvenir Shop
The souvenir ship is the brainchild of label
Executive Vice President Chuck Gamble who came up with the
idea to open the facility as another way to celebrate the
70's hit-making machines 35th anniversary.
It's stocked with vinyl records and 45's for
die-hard fans and serious collectors. Display cases and clothes
racks showcase a variety of TSOP merchandise, including t-shirts,
sweatshirts, jackets, hats, key-chains, coffee mugs, posters
and CDs. Customers can purchase specially-ordered gold and
platinum Gamble-Huff albums customized with their name engraved
on the records and TSOP jackets with their name inscribed
on the front. CD listening stations and on-line ordering
kiosks are available for customer convenience. The piano
that Gamble and Huff played when composing songs, along with
the control board they operated when recording their artists,
are on display.

Philadelphia International Records is already
making plans to expand the features of its brand new souvenir
shop. Customers will soon be able to enter a recording booth
and record live songs over their favorite TSOP tracks. The
facility is on its way to becoming an official ticket location
for the Philadelphia Trolley Works. A permanent TSOP exhibition
will soon be on display.
