The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia
The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia Has Opened on The Avenue of the
Arts
The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia opened on June 29, 2000 as the crowning
glory of Philadelphia's Avenue of the Arts. Occupying two historic landmark
buildings that formerly housed the Girard Trust Company/Mellon Bank, this
$88 million renovation includes a rotunda building and tower dating back
to the early 1900's. Originally designed by the acclaimed architectural
firm of McKim, Mead and White, the structure is one of the finest examples
of neoclassical architecture in the country. Featuring 300 rooms including
a 2100 square foot Penthouse and 20,000 square feet of meeting space,
two restaurants and two lounges, this five star caliber property will
be the first domestic Ritz-Carlton to open in the past decade.

the Pantheon in Rome. Pristine white marble adorned with soaring
Ionic columns, intricate carvings and reliefs echo their gracious past
from both the interior and exterior of the building. The dome of Gustivino
tile climaxes in an oculus a staggering 140 feet above ground level. Grand
marble staircases wind their way to the open mezzanine and to the breathtaking
Grand Ballroom located on the former site of the vaults on the concourse
level.
