The Liacouras Center
The Liacouras Center, a 10,200-seat, state-of-the-art
arena on the campus of Temple University, fills a much-needed niche in
the Philadelphia market for a major, mid-sized venue. Formerly known as
the Apollo of Temple, the venue was renamed and dedicated to Temple University
President Peter J. Liacouras on February 13, 2000.
The 340,000-sq. ft. building is the home of Temple Men's and Women's Basketball,
as well as a full range of concerts, family shows, University athletic
and convocation events, sports exhibitions and more. The building has
great production flexibility. In addition to the large arena configuration,
The Esther Boyer Theater at the Liacouras Center is a small theater set-up
of 1,000 to 5,000 seats for more intimate presentations. Pre-positioned
curtains, lighting and sound systems maximize the effectiveness of each
seating configuration.
The Liacouras Center is located less than two miles from Philadelphia's
City Hall. Public bus and subway transportation delivers attendees right
to the front door. A four-story, 1,200-space connected parking garage
provides visitors access to the facility without having to venture outside.
In addition to the connected parking garage, motorists can park at a
number of well-lighted, close-by surface lots, which are staffed and maintained
by Temple University.
