Hillier Architecture

Architecture is shaping the human experience...
In simpler times, architecture was mainly about dwellings--during life and after. Design was drawn from a combination of very simple, form-giving conditions: the modest expression of functional necessity made from local materials that could be quarried, barged, or hauled to the site and executed with untrained labor. As time advanced, a language of built form developed in response to abstract conceptions of deity, morality and the need to explain human existence in an un-codified universe. Aspirations grew and architecture enabled civilization to touch the heavenly realm.
Thousands of years later, the making of architecture has changed little. Architecture remains handcrafted in an age of the post-industrial colossus; a timeworn profession that traces the evolution of civilized society. Architecture has made the journey along the course of human existence. It reflects all that humankind knows about itself and the universe. The essence of the legacy is found in the ability to achieve permanence - the timeless expression of architectural thought as evidenced through the artful execution of places for humankind to experience.
We live in a world of fantastic diversity. Respecting and celebrating the extraordinary differences among the people and places on the planet has been the backbone of our firm's culture. It has inspired an approach to architecture that accepts pluralism as the common ground for expression and ideology. Our practice is based on the belief that each project must be the unique expression of the client's dream. Coupled with a commitment to preserve and enhance the precious natural recourses of the earth, we have made every project a triumph of collaboration of disciplines, expertise and experience.
Our achievements are a reflection of the diversity of clients for whom we work, the diversity of talents that we as a firm possess, and the need as a profession to sow the seeds of these values in our progeny who will cherish them as much as we do.
