New Freedom Theatre
Since 1966, New Freedom Theatre, the nation's largest African-American theatre,
has presented professional repertory productions specific to the African
American experience in America. Today, New Freedom Theatre presents over
150 performances a year and is classified as a small professional theatre
under an agreement with the Actor's Equity Association.

Located in the heart of North Central Philadelphia, New Freedom Theatre
has been a beacon of light in this community for over 30 years. In 1971,
New Freedom Theatre developed its Performing Arts Training Program, a
rigorous performing arts training program used as a vehicle to instill
life skills in its students. The success of the program is overwhelming
and is best illustrated by the high percentage of its students (98%) who
graduate from high school, with 85% going on to higher education.
