Temple University's Boyer College of Music and Dance - Rock Hall Auditorium - Conwell Dance Theater
Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance is
a preeminent leader in preparing students for careers as
performers, educators, composers and researchers. It is the
largest school of its type in the tri-state region, with
approximately 700 music and dance majors in programs ranging
from baccalaureate through doctorate. Degree programs in
music and dance combine the best conservatory training with
rigorous academic grounding in a wide range of concentrations.
In music, these include private instrumental and orchestral
studies, keyboard, voice and opera, choral conducting, jazz
studies, composition, music education and therapy, music
history and music theory. Dance concentrations offered include
modern dance, choreography, ballet, jazz, improvisation,
African dance, dance history, dance education and cultural
studies.
The Boyer College's commitment to the community is demonstrated by its
nearly 300 performances, master classes and workshops offered annually
on campus and throughout the region. The Boyer College is a significant

Rock Hall Auditorium is the newest addition
to the Boyer College facilities. The building, located at Broad Street
and Cecil B. Moore Avenue on the Avenue of the Arts North, includes a
300 seat chamber music performance hall, numerous teaching studios and
practice rooms, the Alice Tully Library and the Presser Creative Music
Technology Center. Distinctive performances are presented in Rock Hall
by students, faculty and guest artists as part of the Temple University Concert Series.
Conwell Dance Theater located in Conwell Hall on Temple's
main campus at Broad Street and Montgomery Avenue is a 185 seat black box theater. The Department of Dance sponsors performances of noted guest
artists, students and faculty.
