The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts

The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts, located on the Avenue of the Arts at 736-38 South Broad Street, is often referred to as "The House That Jazz Built." As an outgrowth of the former Black Musician's Union, the Local 274 American Federation of Musicians originally founded in 1935, the Philadelphia Clef Club has functioned as a non-profit organization since 1983 whose mission is to perform, preserve, perpetuate and promote the art of jazz.
