Avenue of the Arts, Inc. Announces Getting to
the Show on Time -
A Guide to Parking, Public Transit, Dining, Lodging
and More
Philadelphia, PA ~ Avenue of the Arts, Inc. (AAI) is launching its
2002 version of this “transportation guide” to help you feel
more at home in the Avenue of the Arts district.
The Avenue of the Arts has experienced impressive growth and diversity
over the past few years. The district is expanding, stretching its limits
and constantly evolving along its 3.5 mile area, encompassing both of
cultural and entertainment experiences. Approximately 20 new restaurants
have opened, several leading and national retailers have selected the
Avenue of the Arts district as an anchor for their new stores, not to
mention the increased seating capacity of more than 3,000 seats due to
the opening of the Kimmel Center and the Gershman Y Studio Theater since
1999. Moreover, since the Avenue of the Arts has been a chief beneficiary
of the City’s 10-year tax abatement program for converting former
office space to new residential uses, the district has been recently fueled
by over 2,000 new residents. In order to accommodate these new changes
and flows of visitors, 1,530 additional parking spaces were constructed.
The Avenue of the Arts district is more than ever becoming a destination
and a neighborhood where Philadelphians and out-of town-visitors want
to feel at ease and at home. According to Executive Director, Karen Lewis,
“AAI is making it easier for everyone to access this premier entertainment
and cultural district with the release of its new and updated transportation
guide. Getting to the Show on Time is a quick reference guide highlighting
parking, public transit, dining, and lodging in the Avenue of the Arts
district.” Moreover its practical size allows it to be carried in
a wallet or a purse to be pulled out for any occasion. The guide provides
driving and public transportation directions to reach the Avenue from
any part of the city or beyond. For drivers into the city, it lists over
thirty parking garages in the Avenue of the Arts district. Interested
in an after a show dinner? The guide lists information for over forty
restaurants from Avenue B to Zanzibar Blue.
Getting to the Show on Time offers visitors a seamless, stress-free and
convenient experience in the Avenue of the Arts district. Avenue of the
